Effective participation of wind turbines in frequency control of a two-area power system using coot optimization

چکیده

Abstract In this paper, load frequency control is performed for a two-area power system incorporating high penetration of renewable energy sources. A droop controller type 3 wind turbine used to extract the stored kinetic from rotating masses during sudden disturbances. An auxiliary storage applied achieve effective response. The coot optimization algorithm (COA) allocate optimum parameters fractional-order proportional integral derivative (FOPID), and controllers. fitness function represented by summation square deviations in tie line power, Areas 1 2 errors. robustness COA proven comparing results with benchmarked optimizers including: atomic orbital search, honey badger algorithm, water cycle particle swarm optimization. Performance assessment confirmed following four scenarios: (i) while including PID controllers; (ii) FOPID (iii) validation under various disturbances; (iv) proposed controllers varying weather conditions.
